PROCLAMATION EVANGELISM 3rd eSchool GREAT SUCCESS
Wheaton, Illinois -- Nearly one hundred
fifty evangelists gathered June 12-17, 2004 for a week of training
in this year's PEN eSchool held at the beautiful campus of Wheaton
College, Wheaton, Illinois. The main theme was "Prepare,
Proclaim & Disciple". The main sponsor of this year's
school was YWAM (Youth With A Mission), in cooperation with the
Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College.
The conference featured speakers such as Loren Cunningham (YWAM
founder), Steve Douglass (Campus Crusade for Christ), Joyce Meyer
(Joyce Meyer Ministries), Avery Willis (International Mission
Board) and J. John (Canon of the Anglican Church and Evangelist).
Twelve nations were represented, with evangelists bringing in
their own stories of how the Lord called them to minister and
how He has blessed them by winning people to Christ. One attendee
wrote, "I just came out of a six-month period of consistent
ministry and was quite tired and in need of refreshment. That
need was greatly met. I am walking away with a great number of
contacts, teaching, and new passion for preaching the Gospel."
One of the highlights of the conference was evangelism-in-praxis.
Thirty-nine of the delegates went to visit Cook County Jail, dubbed
as the nation's oldest county jail facility, where they witnessed
and prayed to the inmates. Evangelists were also able to attend
Wheaton Bible Church's special evangelistic services and hear
Lon Allison, Director of the Billy Graham preach. Many came to
faith through our praxis events.
The attendees walked away with renewed passion, greater vision
and empowerment to do public proclamation of the Gospel. It has
also emphasized the urgency of the task to fulfill the evangelists'
call: "Go and make disciples of all nations." Matthew
28:19
Mark Anderson, YWAM Impact World Tour Director, had heard some
of our attendees say that it is the best conference they have
ever attended. The availability of PEN's network leaders during
small group times was also greatly appreciated.
Next year's eSchool in Harrisonburg, VA will be hosted by Wingfield
Ministries on April 6-10, 2005. Please mark your calendars now
to attend!

EMERGING ITINERANT EVANGELISTS
During the month of June, East West Ministries International
hosted an Institute for Evangelists in the former Soviet Union.
Over 35 emerging evangelists from the Caucasus region, Central
Asia, Western Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, and Moldova were invited
to take part in this two-week training session.
These emerging evangelists desperately need your prayers as each
of them are mainly from Islamic areas where persecution is very
real and the sharing of their faith very difficult. This was the
second training session of national emerging evangelists in partnership
with BGEA. Please pray with us that we will be able to start several
such programs around the world.

INDIA: LOCAL TRUSTS CHRIST, HIS LIFE IS TRANSFORMED
A local pastor of one of the churches that participated in the
Binnpypet, Bangalore Festival reports that more than three families
have joined his church in the last few weeks after the Festival.
A local "Rowdy" trusts Christ, and now his life is
transformed. Here's a brief testimony. "There was a time
I carried a Knife in this hand to harm people, but now I carry
a Bible..."
Rajan (pseudo name) is an auto-rickshaw driver and was hired
to publicize our meetings. His cab was rigged with a PA system
and an announcer was placed in the vehicle, they would go street
to street inviting people to attend the Festival.
Rajan got deeply involved in the publicity and attended the meetings
each night. After the meetings he would come to the platform for
prayer, or simply to be around me. According to him, something
came over him that he couldn't resist coming to the meetings.
You see Rajan was the local 'rowdy' or 'hoodlum'; therefore, everyone
knew this character well. He was often hired to beat up others
or provide security for some. People feared this man.
Rajan stated that he was overcome by the presence of God. As
a matter of fact, in his own words, he stated "there was
a fire that touched me and I became deeply convicted of my sins
and my evil ways. I felt an irresistible force guiding me to change
my ways. Each night after the meeting when I went home, I was
restless. Finally one night I knelt down and prayed, I asked God
to forgive me and make me a child of God. Instantly, I found a
change come over me
One day I walked with a knife in one
hand, but today I walk with a Bible in my hand." At a recent
follow up meeting Rajan shared this testimony. Wow! This is the
power of the Gospel. Power to save 'hoodlums' like Rajan.

2004 CELEBRATE RECOVERY SUMMIT
Thirteen years ago, God gave Pastor John Baker a vision for a
Christ-centered recovery program and Saddleback Church launched
Celebrate Recovery with 43 people. It was designed as a program
to help those struggling with hurts, habits, and hang-ups by showing
them the loving power of Jesus Christ through a recovery process.
Celebrate Recovery has helped more than 7,500 people at Saddleback,
attracting over 70% of its members from outside the church. 85%
of the people who go through the program stay with the church
and nearly half serve as church volunteers.
The 2004 Celebrate Recovery Summit takes place this August 18
- 20, at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. The Summit
serves as a point of connection & growth for churches from
around the world in all stages of introducing, growing, and deepening
a Celebrate Recovery ministry in their community.

CHURCH PLANTING IN CUBA
The Riddle Evangelistic Association started a new
church in Cuba three years ago and sponsored a native pastor to
try and get the new church up and running. With only three members
in the beginning the church has now grown to almost sixty members
and has purchased property for the building of a worship center.
Future plans are to return to Cuba in January of 2005 with a team
and begin construction of the new facility.

A WEST VIRGINIA ECHO
Wingfield Ministries returned to Pendleton County, West Virginia
in June to build on the foundation of church unity and personal
involvement in evangelism which was started five years ago. Months
of preparation meetings, under the supervision of Director Tim
McAvoy, culminated in four nights of Encounter evangelism in Franklin.
Guest performers included John Schmid, Carla Karst, and Jonathan
Caldwell of the Power Team. The children's Encounter and the response
to the "True Love Waits" appeal were highlights of the
outreach. The local leadership was very pleased with outcome of
the event and plan to use it as a platform to launch more evangelistic
initiatives.

RECHARGED AND ABUNDANT HARVEST
After our PEN Conference, I came back in Louisiana, where we
normally have street witnessing every Saturday evening with The
Grace Mission House. I came back charged with great insights that
I learned from men and women of God during the PEN Conference.
I wanted to see great results in my witnessing, so I prayed and
asked God to be with me. The results in just three weeks have
been so encouraging. On the following Saturday, nine people gave
their lives to Jesus. From that time on we are experiencing great
harvest. The only secret behind this is just do it, God will fulfill
it. (Matthew 28:19,20) Strive to do what you believe is the will
of God.
